Player/Manager - Clive Pinder

GK - Clive Pinder

Age: 34

Clive gets picked every game down to two main reasons. 1) He picks the side and 2) he is the only person who wants to go in goal. Can usually be heard shouting any variation of “Makalele”, “Champagne” and “Argghhh”. None of these make any sense to his players but make for fantastic Sunday Amusement never the less. Great shot stopper and solid from corners and crosses, only his kicking leaves anything to be desired.

Adam Ferguson

Age: 24

“Ferg” has come on leaps and bounds in recent years. From not starting for a team that only had 11 players including him he is now very much a first team player for the Skew. Usually deployed at full back he can also operate in Midfield. He is yet to open his account for the Skew but if he can avoid any injuries in particular his dodgy Achilles it will only be a matter of time until we see his name in lights.

D - Adam Fitton

Age: 24

“Shitbreak” as he is affectionately known by his team mates, Adam has been a fantastic addition to the team. His freakish height ensures he wins everything in the air and is a big threat from attacking set pieces. He also regularly decides to dribble the ball out of defence as he tries to barge his way through the opposition until that is he gets tackled as normal. He won managers player of the season in his debut year.

D - James Hiller

Age: 24

Captain Jim has been with the team for 9 seasons now and whilst only 23, has near 200 games experience in the Sunday Morning Review league. Rubbish in the air but quick on the ground, James makes up for his lack of ability with sheer effort. Scored the Goal of the Season last term with his 20 yard strike in the final fixture he will this time be looking to pick up some silverware after a few too many years without.

D - Ant Monger

Age: 28

Ant has been with the side for a few years now and it shows. Constantly injured, if its not one thing it’s the other but when he is on the pitch he is a real addition to the unit. Superb positional sense and always looking to overlap, he epitomises the modern day full back. After a lengthy break this could be his best season in ages.

D - Dan Devro

Age: 26

After filling in on numerous occaisions last season Danny will be a part of the squad week in week out this term. He will be challenging Ant Monger for the right back position.

D/M - Steve Tappin

Age: 32

Steve could be entering one of his last seasons for us this year. Has not played as much as he would have wanted to last year but he never lets himself or the side down when called upon. Will be battling with players a few years younger than him for a starting berth in midfield but will be in and around the starting 11 no matter what. His new best selling (The Secrets of CEO's) book could take up alot of his playing time.

M - Stuart Crabtree

Age: 24

Stubo will be joining the reserves this season after a tough summer of negotiation by James Hiller. Has filled in a few times previously and has always been able to control the game even when not able to run! Loves a challenge and is a great passer of the ball. “The tampon has hopefully seen the back of his injury problems and will be looking forward to a full season, fingers crossed.

M - Ollie Galea

Age: 16

Ollie is amongst 3 players to have joined from St.Albans city youth team. Early reports show he has a fantastic level of fitness, speed, eye for goal and a great teamwork ethic. He also has huge hair. Played for Team Ivory coast in the summer on the right of midfield and played brilliantly throughout. He will be pushing to start for the Skew next season either wide right or as a centre forward.

M - Lewis Piasecki

Age: 23

Lewy P will be itching to start the season as it will be close to 4 months since he last had the opportunity to kill someone in a tackle. The opposition love to hate him and usually do. Lewis’ ability to play pretty much anywhere on the pitch is invaluable to the side; he also has a fantastic right boot on him and is always looking to score goals. Came 2nd in the goal of the season after his fantastic 35 yard winning strike at home in the 4-3 thriller.

M - Giles Rickett

Age: 33

Gilo will again be providing the team with his fair share of goals, assists, skills and punch-ups. Probably still one of the fittest guys in the team despite being one of the oldest. He will now be playing with players half his age no doubt hoping to prove he can still do the business. Gilo posses a fantastic left foot, is always a threat to the opposition goal, be it from open play, free kicks or penalties you can trust him to deliver the goods. Has the shortest temper in the team, and that’s saying something!

M - Mark Hiller

Age: 16

Younger brother of James. Mark will be a great addition to the team. Predominately a centre half he will more likely be playing a more advanced role this year. His ability in the air coupled with great feet should ensure he has no problems wherever he plays. Always described as the “better Hiller” he will want to prove it this season. As with Adam Fitton his height will be a real threat to the opposition goal from set plays.

F - Mark Lewis

Age: 27

Mark’s consistency came to light last year bas he was the only player to play in every fixture. His work rate is phenomenal even if his goal scoring ability is not. Usually deployed as a second striker of right sided midfielder he is also one of the longest serving players in the side. His experience will be needed next year to help the younger player’s bed-in as soon as possible. He will also be looking to improve on last year’s total of three goals in all competitions and help push the side to the top of the table.

F - Bart Snavely

Age: 27

The Bart man is raring to go this year after a bitterly disappointing 2008. Maybe suffered from second season syndrome after an outstanding first season. Bart will be hoping to lead the line for the Skew this year and be back amongst the 20 a season men. A more physical approach and no injuries should ensure a successful campaign.

F - James Yates

Age: 16

James is probably going to overtake Lewis as most hated player in the league not too long in the future. Loves a challenge and looks very strong, fast and skilful, James will hopefully be a massive addition to the team. He scored goals for fun last year with St.Albans City Youth and was one of the stars of the tournament in the African Cup of Nations event at Rothampstead. Looking forward to his banter and goals in 2008-09.

M/F - Marcus Fox

Age : 16

Marcus is the last of the Youth players to sign for the skew this season making his debut at home in the 5-5 thriller in which he scored a hat-trick. Bullet like left foot, bundles of strength and energy, will allow him to play in midfield or as a forward and ensure he is not bullied off the ball. Loves a big tackle and fancies himself as a freekick and corner tacker as well as just fancying himself! Usually spends half time playing with himself.

GK - Sam Dealey

Age: 20

Sam played for the Ivory Coast select team in the summer tournament and kept a clean sheet in every game along the way to the final. This promted manager Clive Pinder to make a move for the talented youngster knowing he would be needed sooner rather than later for the reserve team. Looked solid in pre-season and made his debut in last weeks 4-2 cup win in which he played with confidence throughtout. Surely only a matter of time before he makes the number 1 shirt his own.
