The Skew Bridge Football Club History
The Skew Bridge Football Club was formed in 1997 by Les Crabtree in conjunction with Barry and Zoe Gray who ran the Skew Bridge Public House.
The decision was then made in 1999 to join the well organised Observer Review League and the Club has operated 1,2 and 3 sides over the years ever since.
Over this time the club has enjoyed various succesful campaigns, picking up 7 trophies on the way. The Highlight of which was the 2006 Premier Division Trophy managed by Steve Eames.
In the summer of 2008 Les Crabtree decided to move "upstairs" and is now Director of Football, with Simon Andrews and Chris Gregory becoming joint First Team Mangers and Clive Pinder remaining Player/Manager for the Reserves.
The Clubs continued success is largely down to the excellent social side of playing for either side with nearly all the players going back down the pub after every game. The age range for the coming season is 16 to 39!
Such Banter as Funday Sundays and Wild Card Sundays normally organised by Steve Jones are now considered the norm.
The Skew is still considered the pinnacle of any Sunday morning player in Harpenden and will remain so for some time yet.
